CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> <br /> REgOLUTION NO. 03-020 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF OUR TROOPS SERVING BOTH AT <br />HOME AND ABROAD <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Americans have always risen to the need to protect our freedom and security, as <br />well as the freedom and security of nations around the world, when a clear danger <br />is demonstrated; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the "America Supporting Americans" program was created to provide a <br />mechanism whereby all branches of the United States Armed Services would be <br />"adopted" by an American City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the adoption program is to bond Americans with the men and <br /> women who bravely serve their country; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton supports the men and women serving in the armed forces, <br />both at home and abroad and honor their commitment to our nation's safety and <br />security as well as that of the world community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton supports our troops and feels it is critical for our troops to <br /> know that American citizens support them during their mission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the greatest support of these men and women comes from the families and loved <br /> ones remaining at home, and without them their job would be very difficult; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />The City Council hereby supports the men and women of the armed forces of the <br />United States and their families and loved ones at home. <br /> <br /> <br />
