ATTACHMENT 1 RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE ZONE 7 WATER AGENCY BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO APPPROVE WATER RATE ALTERNATIVE 3- NO INCREASE IN 2011 WHEREAS, the Zone 7 Water Agency Board of Directors is considering three water rate alternatives as included in Exhibit A to this resolution; and WHEREAS, all water rate alternatives represent long term rate concepts; and WHEREAS, Alternatives 1 and 2 include water rate increases in calendar year 2011. Alternative 3 does not include a rate increase in calendar year 2011; and WHEREAS, while all alternatives project increases in subsequent years, due to the overall economy, it is important that local agencies limit cost increases that impact the general public and the regional economy; WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton supports water conservation and the coordination of water activities and is committed to working with all local, regional and state agencies to develop water policies that minimize the need for water rate adjustments. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1. That the City of Pleasanton recommends that the Zone 7 Water Agency, Board of Directors approve Alternative 3 —No Increase in 2011 as detailed in Exhibit 1 to this Resolution; and SECTION 2. That the City of Pleasanton encourages the Zone 7 Board of Directors to continue facilitating opportunities for comment from its water users and the general public on matters related to water rates.
