pL£ASANTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />5 <br />September 21, 2010 <br />Community Development <br />Traffic Engineering <br />TITLE: ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION WITH THE <br />METROPOLITAN TRANSPORATION COMMISSION (MTC) FOR <br />ALLOCATION OF FEDERAL CONGESTION MITIGATION AND AIR <br />QUALITY IMPROVEMENT FUNDING (CMAQ) FOR THE FOOTHILL ROAD <br />AT 1 -580 INTERCHANGE AND BIKE LANE PROJECT, CIP NO. 095034 <br />SUMMARY <br />This report recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving <br />the application with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for allocation of <br />Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Funding (CMAQ) for the <br />Foothill Road at 1 -580 interchange and bike lane project. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing an application with the Metropolitan Transportation <br />Commission for $708,000 in CMAQ funding for the Foothill Road at 1 -580 interchange <br />and bike lane project. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The estimated cost of the 1 -580 at Foothill interchange project is $3.6 million. The <br />bicycle and pedestrian improvement portion of the project is estimated at $708,000 and <br />fully funded by the Federal Grant. In addition, the Tri Valley Transportation Council has <br />allocated $753,000 for this project, $200,000 of which was allocated to CIP No. 095034 <br />for design as part of the Capital Improvement Program for fiscal year 2009 -10. The <br />remainder of the funding will be provided by local traffic fees, miscellaneous developer <br />contributions, and Stoneridge Mall improvement funds. <br />
