ORDINANCE NO. 2004 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 5.36 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE RENEWING <br /> THE TRI- VALLEY TOURISM BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT <br /> WHEREAS, historically the Cities of Pleasanton, Livermore Dublin and San Ramon had <br /> funded the Tri- Valley Convention Visitors Bureau in order to promote tourism in the Tri Valley <br /> area, and based on competing demands of the funds of the Cities there was a need to create a <br /> stable source of funding tied to tourism that would enable the Tri Valley Convention Visitors <br /> Bureau to better market the area thereby increasing business opportunities for Tri Valley <br /> lodging businesses; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2005 the Cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and San Ramon <br /> supported the establishment of the Tri Valley Tourism Business Improvement District to provide <br /> services tailored to the lodging businesses, including a tourism promotion programs specifically <br /> targeted to increase tourism promotion within the Cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and <br /> San Ramon, and on December 6, 2005 the Pleasanton City Council established the Tri Valley <br /> Tourism Business Improvement District; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Tri Valley Tourism Business Improvement District has been managed <br /> successfully since its establishment and is now approaching its term, and now the Tri Valley <br /> Convention Visitors Bureau has requested renewal of the Tri Valley Convention Visitors <br /> Bureau to include the Town of Danville and to increase the assessment for paid occupied room <br /> night to provide additional funds to promote the Tri Valley area; and <br /> WHEREAS, on April 20, 2010, the Pleasanton City Council adopted Resolution 10 -351, <br /> a resolution of intention to modify the Management District Plan of the Tri Valley Tourism <br /> Business Improvement District and Resolution 10 -352, a resolution to renew the Tri Valley <br /> Tourism Business Improvement District. Thereafter, the Cities of Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon <br /> and the Town of Danville consented to the City of Pleasanton renewing the Tourism Business <br /> Improvement District that would include the corporate limits of those four municipalities. On <br /> June 1, 2010, the City Council conducted a public hearing to consider the renewal of the Tri <br /> Valley Tourism Business Improvement District and to hear any protest to its renewal; petitions <br /> representing a majority support for renewal of the district were received, as was one written <br /> letter of protest; and <br /> WHEREAS, on June 15, 2010, the Pleasanton City Council adopted Resolution No. 10- <br /> 381, modifying the Management District Plan of the Tri Valley Tourism Business Improvement <br /> District, fulfilling the necessary procedural requirements to renew the district. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br /> HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />
