9
THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTONo
May 4, 2010
Parks and Community Services
TITLE: AUTHORIZATION TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR AND APPROVAL
OF A RESOLUTION FOR (TDA) FY11 TRANSPORTATION
DEVELOPMENT ACT ARTICLE 4.5 FUNDS AND ALAMEDA COUNTY
MEASURE B FUNDS FOR THE PLEASANTON PARATRANSIT SERVICE
SUMMARY
The Transportation Development Act (TDA) provides for the disbursement of
transportation funds through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) for
community transit services. Funding is allocated from TDA Article 4.5 and Alameda
County Measure B (dedicated sales tax) funds. Eligible agencies are required to file
annual applications for allocation with the MTC and the Alameda County Transportation
Improvement Authority (ACTIA). For FY 11, the City's projected allocation is $112,673
($43,552 TDA; $69,121 Measure B). These funds will be used to offset the proposed
FY 11 Paratransit Door -to -Door (DTD) Service budget of $531,167.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the Director of Parks and
Community Services to submit an application for the FY 11 Transportation Development
Act (TDA) Article 4.5 funds from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and
Alameda County Measure B Funds from the Alameda County Transportation
Improvement Authority (ACTIA).
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Should the City receive both TDA Article 4.5 ($43,552) and Measure B funds ($69,121)
for FY 11, it would reduce the City's contribution from the General Fund to the
Paratransit Door -to -Door budget by $112,673, thus resulting in a 21% savings in the
City's General Fund. The City's total contribution from the General Fund for the
Paratransist Door -to -Door program in FY 11 would be $376,494.
