NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS CONCERNING THE RENEWAL OF THE TRI- VALLEY <br /> TOURISM BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT AND TO LEVY AN ASSESSMENT ON <br /> CERTAIN LODGING BUSINESSES WITHIN THE DISTRICT <br /> NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on April 20, 2010, the City Council (Council) of the City of <br /> Pleasanton (City) adopted a Resolution of Intention to renew the Tri- Valley Tourism Business <br /> Improvement District (TVTBID) and to levy an assessment on certain lodging businesses <br /> within the TVTBID as set forth in the attached Resolution of Intention. <br /> NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that at 7:00 p.m. on June 1, 2010, at the City of <br /> Pleasanton Council Chambers, 200 Old Bernal Avenue, Pleasanton, CA 94566, a public <br /> hearing shall be held pursuant to Government Code section 54954.6 to allow public <br /> testimony regarding the renewal of the TVTBID and the levy of assessments therein as set <br /> forth in the enclosed Resolution of Intention and pursuant to Government Code section <br /> 54954.6. <br /> NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that at 7:00 p.m. on June 15, 2010, at the City of <br /> Pleasanton Council Chambers, 200 Old Bernal Avenue, Pleasanton, CA 94566, has been set <br /> as the time and place for a public hearing at which time the Council proposes to renew the <br /> TVTBID and to levy the proposed assessment as set forth in the Resolution of Intention. <br /> Boundaries: The proposed TVTBID includes all lodging businesses with thirty -five (35) <br /> or more rooms available for public occupancy located within the boundaries <br /> of the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon and the Town of <br /> Danville. <br /> Assessment: Current assessment rates are $1.00 per occupied room per night on short <br /> term (less than 31 days) stays. The proposed new assessment rates are a <br /> flat $2.00 per occupied room per night on short term (stays less than 31 <br /> days) stays in lodging businesses. This assessment shall not increase in <br /> years one through three. In years four and five, the assessment may be <br /> increased annually up to an additional ten cents ($0.10) per occupied room <br /> per night. Based on the benefit received, assessments will not be collected <br /> on stays of more than thirty (30) consecutive days, nor on stays by <br /> government employees on government business. Assessments pursuant to <br /> the TVTBID shall not include room rental revenue resulting from stays <br /> pursuant to contracts executed prior to adoption of the Resolution of <br /> Formation renewing the TVTBID. <br /> Budget The total TVTBID annual budget for each year of its five (5) year operation <br /> is anticipated to be approximately $1,520,000. <br /> Purpose: Marketing and sales promotions to increase tourism and to market Tri- <br /> Valley as a tourist, meeting and event destination. <br />
