RESOLUTION NO. 10 -348 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ENCOURAGING CASTLEWOOD COUNTRY CLUB AND UNITE HERE!, <br /> HOSPITALITY WORKERS UNION LOCAL 2850 TO RETURN TO THE BARGAINING <br /> TABLE TO RESOLVE THEIR LABOR DISPUTE <br /> WHEREAS, Castlewood Country Club is a good neighbor to the City of <br /> Pleasanton and offers a valued amenity to the community which serves many <br /> Pleasanton residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, Castlewood Country Club provides employment to many people, <br /> including Pleasanton residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, there exists a labor dispute between the Castlewood Country Club <br /> and Unite Here!, Hospitality Workers Union Local 2850, which represents approximately <br /> 60 employees; and <br /> WHEREAS, the negotiations over the dispute have deteriorated to the point that <br /> in late February employees were locked -out and prevented from working, and they have <br /> not been allowed to return to work since then; and <br /> WHEREAS, on April 2, 2010, employees voted to retain their union status; and <br /> WHEREAS, the parties' inability to continue to negotiate in good faith, and the <br /> resulting lock -out, have severely impacted the well -being of the workers and their <br /> families, and reflect poorly upon the Pleasanton community as a whole. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER <br /> THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1. The City Council strongly encourages Castlewood Country Club to <br /> end the lockout and put all the employees back to work. <br /> SECTION 2. The City Council urges the parties to immediately return to the <br /> bargaining table to resolve their labor dispute in a fair and just manner. <br /> SECTION 3. The City Clerk is directed to provide a certified copy of this <br /> resolution to the management representatives of the Castlewood Country Club and the <br /> representatives of Unite Here!, Hospitality Workers Union Local 2850. <br />
