Exhibit A
Description of Work
Artist Jack Storms shall create a bell- shaped glass crystal sculpture based on a design
previously approved by the Civic Arts Commission, to include a hanging/mechanically
rotating structure (see attached drawing). Artist will transport the Work to the Firehouse
Arts Center and install it on site, and will attach it to the granite pedestal provided by the
City.
Scope of Services
Jack Storms and Studio 7 Fine Arts shall:
1 Fabricate the sculpture.
2 Inspect sculpture for quality.
3 Coordinate final installation schedule with City Staff and General Contractor.
4 Transport the sculpture and the hanging structure to the Firehouse Arts Center.
5 Install the stand and the sculpture.
Location
The Work shall be installed in the Firehouse Arts Center lobby, adjacent to the window
directly north of the Railroad Avenue entrance.
Materials and Fabrication Methods
The sculpture shall consist of leaded crystal and dichroic glass. The stand shall be
fabricated of metal finished in color consistent with the materials used in the building
(specifically window framing) so as to coordinate aesthetically. The stand will be
engineered to manage the weight of the sculpture and will have a motor enclosed in the
supporting structure which will rotate the bell mechanically. The approximate
dimensions of the glass bell sculpture will be 20" wide at the bottom, 10" wide at the top
and 24" tall, and the dimensions of the supporting structure will be approximately 3' wide
and 5' tall. The pedestal, to be provided by the City, will be approximately 3' square and
1' tall.
Supplemental Materials
The artist shall supply a manual for the City's public art collection management program
which includes materials specifications and describes routine maintenance needs,
recommendations for care, and other considerations for upkeep of the bell sculpture and
supporting metal framework.
