CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 03-006 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ADDING ITEM TO THE <br />OPPOSING THE GOVERNOR'S SHIFT OF <br />LICENSE FEES FROM CITIES <br /> <br />AGENDA <br />VEHICLE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />consideration of a resolution urging the California Legislature to reject the <br />Governor's proposed shift of local Vehicle License Fee (VLF) revenues and to <br />honor the 1998 commitment to restore the VLF to cities arose after the agenda was <br />posted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Brown Act permits the Council to add an item to the agenda upon a two-thirds <br />vote of the Council finding that the item arose after the time the agenda was posted <br />and that action on the item is necessary before the Council's next regularly <br />scheduled meeting; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, time is of the essence in transmitting this resolution to the Legislature and the <br /> Governor and cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled Council meeting. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />Based on the findings set forth above, a resolution urging the California <br />Legislature to reject the Governors proposed shift of local Vehicle License Fee <br />revenues and to honor the 1998 commitment to restore the VLF is hereby added to <br />the January 21, 2003 agenda for Council consideration and action, if necessary. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, AT <br />A MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 21, 2003 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
