Based on our <br /> thscussions on November 20. 2009. changes have been made to the plan that are described below and the <br /> updated sections of the plan are attached. <br /> Executive Summary Page 1, goal 3 has been updatec to say "Establish citywide design guidelines for <br /> bicycle and pedestrian facilities and consider the needs of roadway users of all ages and abilities." Page iv <br /> has been updated to include: "Encourage involvement of people with disabilities in the development of <br /> future facilities. and "Develop a maintenance program for bicycle and pedestrian facilities that considers <br /> the needs of bicyclists, pedestrians. and people with disabilities." <br /> Chapter 2 Goals, Policies and Programs This chapter has been updated to include more programs <br /> related to people i.vith disabilities. <br /> Program 1 -2 D has been changed to "Develop a citywide sgnage and wayfinding system for <br /> Pedestrians and bicyclists that reflects the local culture and community Develop signage to assist <br /> and inform people v:ith disabilities. <br /> Program 1 -2E has been added Consider needs of people with disabilities in development of trail <br /> maintenance plans. Wherever possible make trails accessible to people with disabilities. Review <br /> accessibility of Arroyo Mocho trail, especially at Sutter Gale." <br /> Program 1 -3 C has been changed to "Encourage involvement of people with disabilities in <br /> development of future trails <br /> o Program 5 -2A has been changed to "Monitor and record bicycle and pedestrian related collisions. <br /> Conduct counts at crash locations and identify safety counter measures Recommend and <br /> implement safely improvements on an annual basis. Investigate methods to analyze traffic safety <br /> for people with disabilities." <br /> Chapter 4 Pedestrian Network Tne last paragraph on page 4 -1 has been updated to hrgh!ight the ADA <br /> content in this chapter <br /> Throughout the Pedestrian Bicycle Master Plan, the term 'physically disabled" has been replaced with <br /> the term "people with disabilities In Chapter 1, there are some quotes from older City of Pleasanton <br /> documents that use the term "physically disabled' These quotes have not been altered. as they are direct <br /> quotes from older City documents. <br /> Appendix A Design Guidelines has been updated to nclude a design for an accessible trail entry as shown <br /> on attached sketch EBRPD -GR 01.ndf <br /> Existing sections of the master plan that relate to people with disabilities include: <br /> Discussion of ADA accessibility issues page 4 <br /> Appendix A page A -30 thru A35 A -39 ADA design of curb ramps and accessible pedestrian push <br /> buttons <br /> Appendix F proposed sidewalk. curb ramp. and truncated dome installations <br /> I would appreciate it if you could provide any comments by Tuesday.
