PUBLIC NOTICE <br /> Notices regarding the appeal and related City Council public hearing were mailed to <br /> property owners and tenants within 1,000 feet of the subject property. At the time this <br /> report was written, staff had received two emails (Attachment 3) regarding this notice. <br /> Public comments received in response to the Planning Commission public hearing <br /> notice have also been attached to this report (Attachments 5 and 7). <br /> Pleasanton Downtown Association <br /> The application was referred to the Downtown Vitality Committee of the Pleasanton <br /> Downtown Association (PDA). The Committee passed a motion supporting the <br /> applicant's request (please see attached letter, Exhibit F of Attachment 7). The PDA <br /> further indicated its desire to have businesses stay open later on Main Street and on the <br /> side streets for at least one half block from Main Street to create a "night life" <br /> Downtown. The PDA also stated that side street development is essential to achieving <br /> the critical mass necessary for a successful Downtown. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT <br /> Projects of this nature are categorically exempt (Section 15301, Existing Facilities, <br /> Class 1) from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br /> Therefore, no environmental document accompanies this report. <br /> CONCLUSION <br /> Staff believes that businesses on or near Main Street should be allowed to have late <br /> night activities such as music and dancing as long as they operate in a manner which <br /> respects the nearby businesses and residents.
