CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1096 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING ANY COMBINATION OF VEHICLES <br /> OF A TOTAL LENGTH IN EXCESS OF 60 FEET OR TOTAL <br /> WIDTH IN EXCESS OF 96 INCHES ON ANY STREET WITHIN <br /> THE CITY OF PLEASANTON EXCEPT BY SPECIAL PERMIT <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Article 3 is hereby added to Title V, ChaPter 5 of <br /> the Pleasanton Code to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Article 3 <br /> <br /> Length and Width Limitations <br /> <br /> Section 5-5.20 Authority. This article is adopted Dursuant <br /> to authority established by California Vehicle Code <br /> Sections 35100 and 35401(e). <br /> <br /> Section 5-5.21 Width Prohibition. No person shall operate <br /> a combination of vehicles of a total width in excess <br /> of 96 inches uDon any public street in the City of <br /> Pleasanton, except as provided in Section 5-5.23. <br /> <br /> Section 5-5.22 Length Prohibition. No Derson shall operate <br /> a combination 8f vehicles of a total length in excess <br /> of 60 feet upon any public street in the City of <br /> Pleasanton, exceDt as provided in Section 5-5.23. <br /> <br /> Section 5-5.2~ Special Permit. The City Council may grant <br /> a special permit for vehicles in excess of the width <br /> and length limitations of this article. In reviewing <br /> .any application for a special permit, the City Council <br /> may impose conditions to Drotect the public and will <br /> consider the following factors: <br /> <br /> a. Length of City streets to be traversed and impacts <br /> upon maintenance costs. <br /> <br /> b. Impacts upon land uses along the requested route, <br /> and particularly the Drotection of areas of <br /> special importance such as Darks, the downtown <br /> area and residential areas. <br /> <br /> c. The traffic carrying caDacity of the suggested <br /> route and possible traffic congestion impacts. <br /> <br /> d. Public safety including specifically hazards to <br /> pedestrian and bicycle users. <br /> <br /> <br />
