CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1291 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7.12, DOG LICENSES <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to recent legislation (Government Code Section <br /> 38792), cities may issue dog licenses for periods up to <br /> three years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to amend the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> to permit extended dog license periods; <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1: Chapter 7.12, subsection 7.12,010, of the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read <br /> as follows: <br /> <br /> ,,7.12.010 Required. <br /> <br /> Every person within the area owning, possessing, <br /> controlling, harboring, or keeping any dog over four <br /> months of age shall procure a dog license tag for each <br /> dog, as long as ownership of the dog continues, or <br /> within ten days after acquiring or bring into into the <br /> area any dog over the age of four months, so long as the <br /> ownership of the dog continues." <br /> <br /> Section 2: Chapter 7.12, subsection 7.12.030, of the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read <br /> as follows: <br /> <br /> "7.12,030 Term. <br /> The effective period of each dog license issued shall be <br /> either twelve, twenty-four or thirty six months or until <br /> the rabies vaccination expires, whichever date is <br /> earlier. <br /> Section 3: Thi~ ordinance shall be published once within fifteen <br /> (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley Times," a <br /> newspaper of general circulation published in the City <br /> of Pleasanton. <br /> Section 4: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days <br /> after the date of its final passage and adoption. <br /> INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br /> of Pleasanton on December 2, 1986. <br /> <br /> <br />
