The,following communications were received: <br />October 5th -- F.P.D. Madsen, with reference to being exempt from paying a license <br />for selling nursery stock'on commission. <br />October 13th - -C. A. Gale, concerning renewing insurance expiring November 5th <br />and Bond of John J.. Delucchi expiring November 10th. <br />October 16th -- Alameda Lodge No. 1015 B.P.O.E. conveying appreciation for the <br />use of McKinley Park on September 29th. <br />October 24th - -Frank C. Hanke, soliciting the privelege of making ac.survey and <br />test of electric rates and possible overcharges and asking a 50% <br />commission if any saving was exacted. <br />October 24th -- Livermore Aeire of Eagles, conveying appreciation for courtesies <br />extended the organization recently. <br />November 5th -- Pleasanton Junior Chamber of Commerce, expressing appreciation to <br />the Council for its modern and aggressive program of painting <br />the names and numbers of the streets on the curbs etc. <br />November 5th -- Ashton Britten, concerning activities at the Sewer Farm. <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined claims No. <br />179 to 221 inclusive and amounting to $707.66, as well as the officers' monthly <br />reports. Following the recess, after which the meeting had been called to order <br />again, Councilman Rivolta, of the finance Committee; reported that the committee <br />had approved Claims No. 179 to 221*inclutive excepting Claim No. 220 which was <br />held up on account of the required requisition not having been submitted with the <br />claim and amounting to $662.73. On his motion, seconded by Councilman Amaral <br />and with all the Councilmen present voting in favor of same the claims were <br />ordered paid. Councilman Rivolta then reported that the finance committee <br />had approved the officers' monthly reports and he made a motion that they be <br />placed on file. There being no objections, they,were ordered filed. <br />Action on the communications received were as follows: <br />October 5th-- F.P.D.1adsen. Mayor Orloff took up the matter and advised that as <br />in previous times Mr. Madsen was not being charged a license for <br />plants etc. that he raised himself, but where he worked on a <br />commission basis that it would be in conflict with the ordinance <br />and start a precedeneo if he was allowed to solicit business <br />and being exempt paying a license fee. The Council .felt that <br />Mr. Madsen should be charged the licence if he intended to sell nursery stock <br />on a commission and the Clerk was advised to write him to that <br />effect. <br />October 13th - -G. A. Gale, On motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman <br />Amaral and with all the Councilmen in favor of same the insurance <br />expiring in November etc. was ordered renewed. <br />October 16th -- Alameda Lodge No. 1015 B.P.O.E. Filed. <br />October 24th - -Frank C. Hanke. The Clerk was instructed to write him to attend <br />the next regular meeting of the Board on- December 3rd and to <br />submitb his proposition to the Council for discussion. <br />October 24th -- Livermore Aeire of Eagles. Filed. <br />November 5th--Pleasanton Junior Chamber of Commerce. Filed. <br />November 5th -- Ashton Britten. Filed. <br />Councilman Amaral,of the taws and Judiciary Committee,re)ported on a complaint <br />filed by Mr. Passeggi with regards to Milk Inspector and Milk Inspection Fees charged. <br />At Ilouncilman Amaral's request-Mr. Delucchi explained that while Mr. Passeggi was <br />paying the regular fee that the American Creamery Company, who is furnishing him <br />with milk, cream and ice cream ,via.s not paying its regular fee because Mr. Passeggi <br />was the only local customer and the-company did not feel justified in paying the <br />the 2egular license and milk inspection fee. He also advised that Dr. Clemens, <br />the Milk Inspector.,had advised Mr. Passeggi against continuing to do business <br />with the creamery unless it complied with local ,"*6 he. Councilman Madsen <br />then took up the milk- ordinance and explained it as it exsisted and accordingly <br />it was decided that unlesilthe American Creamery Company complied with the ordinance <br />and paid the customary fe that it would be no longer privileged to continue to <br />do business locally. Councilman Amaral spoke with reference to a complaint <br />from Mr. Chicazola regarding licenses to be charged shows. He pointed out that <br />Mr. Chicazola was paying a local license, was a heavy tax payer on account of <br />being a property owner etc., and that some consideration should be given him <br />as regards protecting his business. Councilman Amaral pointed out that a show <br />would be given here shortly, where fifty per cent'of the receipts would be taken <br />out of the community by'the person presenting the show which was being given by <br />a local organization. Mr. Chicazola then appeared at the meeting and discussed <br />his situation and explained the ticket selling proceedure which was going on of <br />
