1074 <br />r7 \ <br />The following communications were then read by the Clerk: <br />March 15th -- Pleasanton Farm Home Department -- Inquiring when the fountain donated <br />to McKinley Park by the De oartment is to be installed,. <br />March 20th - -Mrs. Charles Fiorio, Chairman Community Service Committee of the - <br />Pleasanton American Legion Auxiliary, regarding the skating problem <br />in the municipality. <br />March 21st -- Telegram from Congress Albert E. Carter advising investigation is to <br />be made by the C.1 -11.A. Administrator at Washington to ascertain why <br />Pleasanton and other Alameda County projects are delayed. <br />March 28th - -James W. Trimingham, Secretary, Pleasanton Junior Chamber of Commerce <br />advising that the Junior Chamber of Commerce has established a Fee <br />Employment Bureau in the `town of Pleasanton. a <br />A dance permit was requested by Frank F. Avilla Sr. in behalf of the I.D.E.S <br />Lodge No. 15 of Pleasanton for Saturday evening, April 21st, the dance to be given <br />at the I.D.E.S. Hall on St. Marys Street. There being no objections to this <br />permit being granted, same was ordered allowed. <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined Claims No. 382 <br />to 442 inclusive and amounting to $12,36.79 as well as the officers' monthly <br />reports. <br />Following the recess after the meeting had been called to order again Council- <br />man Apperson of the -finance committee reported that the committee had.approved <br />Claims No. 382 to 442 and amounting to $1236.79, on his motion, seconded by Council- <br />man Madsen and with all present voting in avor of same -the claims,were ordered <br />paid. Councilman Apperson then reported th t the finance committee had approved <br />the officers' monthly reports and he made a motion that they -be placed on filed. <br />His motion was seconded by Councilman Orloff. There being no objections, same <br />were ordered filed. <br />Action on the communications was taken as follows: <br />March 15th -- Pleasanton Farm Home Department. The Clerk was instructed to advise <br />the Department that the fountain had been installed on Saturday, <br />March 24th. <br />March 20th - -Mrs. Charles Fiorio, Chai=an Community Service Committee of the <br />Pleasanton American Legion Auxiliary. A general discussion of <br />the skating situation - followed and it -was generally felt that same <br />should be discouraged on Main Street and especially in the vicinity <br />of the Veterans' Memorial Building -where the skaters were damaging <br />not only the grounds.but also the building. At the conclusion of <br />the discussion the Clerk was advised to write Mrs. Fiorio to the <br />affect that skating would be permitted on the sidestreets and on <br />the sidewalks of the sidestreets and that the Council was particularly <br />solicitous about the welfare of elderly people and little children. <br />March 21st -- Telegram of Albert E. Carter, Congressman. Filed. <br />March 28th- -James 'vl1. Trimingham, Secretary Pleasanton Junior Chamber of Commerce. <br />The Clerk was instructed to advise the organization that the Council <br />approved of the establishment of tie Free.Employment Bureau and that <br />it would tender its cooperationi0a the success of the undertaking. <br />Councilman Ivtadsen of the Public - Utilities Committee reported to the Council <br />that his attention had been directed to the AzIdrade property on Kottinger Avenue <br />which did not have the proper sewer connections. He further.reported that <br />numerous complaints had been filed with him and he felt that-the matter should <br />be looked into. Mayor Pickard advised that Mr. Andrade contemplated improvements <br />on the property and he was sure that when these had been made that the Ix open <br />sewer connections would be installed. In the mean time it was decided that the <br />Health Officer should investigate conditions there and make a report to the <br />Council. Councilman Madsen further reported that 15 to 17 meters were not <br />registering on account of numerous leaky valves and that same were removed. <br />He drew attention to the fact that since a check up of the meters had been made <br />that more water had been consumed but less pumping had been done which attested <br />to the improvement being satisfactory. <br />Councilman Orloff of the Laws and Judiciary Committee had nothing to report. <br />In the absence of Councilman uaratti of the Street and Building Committee <br />the Mayor solicited a report from Street Superintendent, II.M.Rodrigues. Mr. Rodrigues <br />reported that the main line crossing of the Southern Pacific Company at Ideal Street <br />had been put in O.K. condition and that he - anticipated that the others would be <br />fixed up in the near future as he had been assured by the section foreman thatZ4," <br />improvements were being contemplated. <br />The Clerk then brought up the matter of the deposits and disbursements <br />of special water deposits which would be made and accordingly Resolution No. <br />1500 which had been ordered prepared by the Council at the last meeting was then <br />offered by Attorney Nilson: The resolution concerned "A Resolution Providing for <br />the Deposit and Disbursement of Special Deposits made Under Section 14A of <br />Ordinance No. 85 of the Town of Pleasanton, and designated the fund to be known <br />
