Councilman Oxsen then advised the council that he did not believe the Street Dept. should have any responsi- bility in connection with burning grass on unburned lots. The Mayor stated that it is not the Town policy to do such burning as that is a responsibility of the property owner. After considerable discus- sion it was decided that Councilman Oxsen have a survey' made of un- burned lots and notify the owners to clean them up. - The fire hazard of the addition to the Frudden Store Bldg . was then discussed and the Clerk was directed to prepare a letter to the property owner giving notice that if remedial action were not taken immediately, the Town would institute legal action to force compli- ance with the Bldg. Codes. Councilman Oxsen closed his report by pointing out the iminent need of a new dump. The questions of a new dump and compulsory garbage service were discussed, and Atty. Nilson was directed to investigate ordinances covering garbage service in other cities. . FIRE DEPT, AND CITY HALL COMMITTEE: Councilman Hansen reported that the City Librarian had arranged with mrs. Shanks to relieve her while on vacation. .A request to have a hydrant removed from in front of Judge dale's offices was referred to Fire Chief Amaral for inves- tigation. Councilman Hansen also reported that the contractor for repairs to the City Hall was expected to start work soon. PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMITTEE: Councilman Mezza stated that aside from considerable meter repairs being made there was nothing particu- lar to report. The Mayor then referred back to the communciation front the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce relative to sidewalk installations and repairs. Mr. West pointed out that the postal delivery was not in the immediate offing and that the suggestion for sidewalk improvements was offerred as a long range program. The Council was in agreement as to the de- sireability of improving the sidewalks but reached no conclusion as to a definite program. Councilman Oxsen advised that he was leaving Town on June 6th for ,a two weeks vacation. Fire Chief Amaral also advised that he was leaving at the end of the month for an extended vacation. He recommended that the Council ap- prove the purchase of 2 All- Purpose 6-as Masks and a new Foam Unit. Councilman Hansen moved that the purchases be approved in an amount not to exceed p200.00, and that the farmers in the District be requested to pay part of the cost. The motion was seconded by councilman Mezza and approved unanimously with all Council members present. Atty. iilson reported that two pieces of property were tax delinquent and that the Chief of Police was advancing payment on one parcel. The other parcel is in stay St. just west of the S.P.:.r . crossing and is held by the B of A N2 & SA, who will execute a quit claim to the Town. Atty. Nilson will prepare the aauit claim for signature by the Bank and will also investigate a similar situation east of the R.R. Tracks. There being no unfinished business, the Clerk present.Jries. yr1910 authorizing payment of Officers' salaries for the month of May in the amount of 41,773.23. The resolution was adopted on motion of Council- man Hansen, seconded by councilman Mezza and approved unanimously with all Council members present. Mayor Trimingham gave a brief report on matters discussed at the May meeting of the League of California Cities which he had attended with Atty. Nilson. There being no _further business to come before the Council, the meet- ing was adjourned at 11:30 PM to meet again in regular session at 8:00 PM Monday, duly 1, 1946. Mayor
