4 <br />of gravel and dust from trucks hauling from Dickard's gravel pit) <br />The Clerk was directed to write a letter advising Mr. Pickard and <br />Mr. Deetz that this practice must .be stopped immediately. council- <br />man Oxsen recommended that a "Blind Street" sign be erected on Rose <br />Ave. at Pleasanton Ave. The Supt. of Streets was directed to see <br />that a sign was erected. Councilman Oxsen then advised the council <br />that he did not believe the Street Dept. should have any responsi- <br />bility in connection with burning grass on unburned lots. The Mayor <br />stated that it is not the Town policy to do such burning as that is <br />a responsibility of the property owner. After considerable discus- <br />sion it was decided that Councilman Oxsen have a survey' made of un- <br />burned lots and notify the owners to clean them up. - <br />The fire hazard of the addition to the Frudden Store Bldg . was then <br />discussed and the Clerk was directed to prepare a letter to the <br />property owner giving notice that if remedial action were not taken <br />immediately, the Town would institute legal action to force compli- <br />ance with the Bldg. Codes. Councilman Oxsen closed his report by <br />pointing out the iminent need of a new dump. The questions of a new <br />dump and compulsory garbage service were discussed, and Atty. Nilson <br />was directed to investigate ordinances covering garbage service in <br />other cities. . <br />FIRE DEPT, AND CITY HALL COMMITTEE: Councilman Hansen reported <br />that the City Librarian had arranged with mrs. Shanks to relieve her <br />while on vacation. .A request to have a hydrant removed from in front <br />of Judge dale's offices was referred to Fire Chief Amaral for inves- <br />tigation. Councilman Hansen also reported that the contractor for <br />repairs to the City Hall was expected to start work soon. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMITTEE: Councilman Mezza stated that aside <br />from considerable meter repairs being made there was nothing particu- <br />lar to report. <br />The Mayor then referred back to the communciation front the Pleasanton <br />Chamber of Commerce relative to sidewalk installations and repairs. <br />Mr. West pointed out that the postal delivery was not in the immediate <br />offing and that the suggestion for sidewalk improvements was offerred <br />as a long range program. The Council was in agreement as to the de- <br />sireability of improving the sidewalks but reached no conclusion as to a <br />definite program. <br />Councilman Oxsen advised that he was leaving Town on June 6th for ,a <br />two weeks vacation. <br />Fire Chief Amaral also advised that he was leaving at the end of the <br />month for an extended vacation. He recommended that the Council ap- <br />prove the purchase of 2 All- Purpose 6-as Masks and a new Foam Unit. <br />Councilman Hansen moved that the purchases be approved in an amount not <br />to exceed p200.00, and that the farmers in the District be requested <br />to pay part of the cost. The motion was seconded by councilman Mezza <br />and approved unanimously with all Council members present. <br />Atty. iilson reported that two pieces of property were tax delinquent <br />and that the Chief of Police was advancing payment on one parcel. The <br />other parcel is in stay St. just west of the S.P.:.r . crossing and is <br />held by the B of A N2 & SA, who will execute a quit claim to the Town. <br />Atty. Nilson will prepare the aauit claim for signature by the Bank and <br />will also investigate a similar situation east of the R.R. Tracks. <br />There being no unfinished business, the Clerk present.Jries. yr1910 <br />authorizing payment of Officers' salaries for the month of May in the <br />amount of 41,773.23. The resolution was adopted on motion of Council- <br />man Hansen, seconded by councilman Mezza and approved unanimously with <br />all Council members present. <br />Mayor Trimingham gave a brief report on matters discussed at the May <br />meeting of the League of California Cities which he had attended with <br />Atty. Nilson. <br />There being no _further business to come before the Council, the meet- <br />ing was adjourned at 11:30 PM to meet again in regular session at <br />8:00 PM Monday, duly 1, 1946. <br />Mayor <br />
