Adopted on motion of Councilman Abrott. 2nd by Councilman Trim <br />ingham and approved by all Councilmen present. <br />CIVIL DEFENCE DIRECTOR, EARL TRIMINGHAM reported that Pleasanton and Livermore <br />have been assigned to District 8 of the Bay area Civil Defence Council. <br />MR. RENO CAIRO asked the council if they Were familiar with the work that Mr. <br />Gil Messa was doing at the Ball Park with the young boys in town. Mr. Cairo <br />suggested that the town do something to show their appreciation for his time <br />and efforts. <br />J. J. AMARAL suggested appointing a joint committee with the Chamber of Commerce <br />to work out something for Mr. Messa and report back to the Council, which was <br />agreed upon. <br />MR. MAPES OF THE PLEASANTON LAUNDRY offered to pass out phamplets in conjunction <br />with the X -Ray drive that is to come up soon. The Council thanked Mr. Mapes <br />for his cooperation. <br />STREETS AND BUILDING, WUNCILMAN HANSE1 reported that the trees have been re- <br />moved at Mrs. Copes and that they requested stop signs have been erected. And that <br />the Spring Street Railroad Crossing was under construction and that it is report- <br />ed that the Southern Pacific will do the Rae Street Crossing next. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT'AND CITY HALL. COUNCILMAN TRIMINGHAM reported that Mrs. Christen- <br />sen will go on one weeks vacation August 12th, Councilman Trimingham said that the roof <br />was evidently in good shape on the City Hall, so will get an estimate on decor- <br />ating inside of City Hall. <br />FIRE CHEIF AMARAL requested that the old hydrants be changed over. Approximately 22 <br />that need replacing. Mayor Oxsen offered to look into same, <br />1 <br />
