CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1873 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY OF PLEASANTON CODE BY <br />ADDING A COMMERCIAL AND CIVIC GREEN BUILDING <br />ORDINANCE, AS FILED UNDER CASE PRZ-09 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of November 19, 2002, the City Council reviewed the report of the <br />Director of Planning and Community Development (SR 02:250) regarding <br />amendments to the Pleasanton Municipal Code by adding an ordinance that would <br />require new civic and commercial projects over 20,000 square feet in size to <br />incorporate green building measures from the U.S. Green Building Council's <br />LEEDTM (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Rating System. <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />Section 2: <br />Section 3: <br /> <br />The Pleasanton Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Chapter 17.50 to <br />Title 17, Planning and Related Matters, to read as set forth in Exhibit "A," <br />attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. <br /> <br />Civic buildings shall be encouraged to achieve a "silver" rating and are <br />encouraged to incorporate renewable energy technology. <br /> <br />The City staff is directed to work diligently with the Chamber of Commerce, <br />builders' associations, Planning Commission and City Council to review the <br />ordinance and to provide opportunity for feedback. The ordinance shall have a <br />formal evaluation one year from the date of adoption and shall be subject to a full <br />review within two years. <br /> <br />Section 4: <br /> <br />The City staffis directed to cause a Notice of Determination to be filed pursuant to <br />Section 4.3(g) of Resolution No. 77-66. <br /> <br />Section 5: <br /> <br />A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after <br />its adoption in The Valley Times, a newspaper of general circulation published in <br />the City of Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for fifteen (15) <br />days in the City Clerks office within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. <br /> <br />Section 6: <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after the date of its final passage <br />and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
