THE CITY OF 07
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON.
November 3, 2009
Community Development
Engineering Division
TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY A -1 SEPTIC
CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR THE ANNUAL SIDEWALK AND
INTERSECTION RAMP INSTALLATION PROJECT, CIP NO. 085005
SUMMARY
The Annual Sidewalk and Intersection Ramp Installation project has been completed
and staff is recommending final project acceptance. The project consisted of the
construction of intersection ramps and raised islands with passageways, resulting in
improved access to sidewalks for persons with bicycles or wheelchairs, as well as
pedestrians with strollers. The project also included the installation of yellow detectable
warning surfaces at various locations throughout the City. Project sites were located on
Greenwood Drive, Mohr Avenue, Hopyard Road, Stoneridge Drive, and Valley Avenue.
The project addresses the City's continued Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) effort.
Intersections were selected for upgrade after consulting with members of the Disability
Action Network and the public, as well as being identified as those in close proximity to
public facilities that did not have ramp access.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Accept the project improvements and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of
Completion.
2. Authorize payment of the remaining contract balance when directed by the
California Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Labor Standards
Enforcement.
3. Authorize the transfer of the remaining $52,955 in project funds from CIP No.
085005, to CIP No. 095005, for future similar projects.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
This project replaced and upgraded existing infrastructure and will not increase
maintenance costs.
