BACKGROUND In June 1998, the Pleasanton City Council and the Pleasanton Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the establishment of a Youth Master Plan for the City of Pleasanton. The approved plan also included a recommendation to establish a Youth Master Plan Implementation Group (now, the Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee) consisting of various representatives from the faith, non profit, parent and youth community. The representatives hold two to four year terms and vacant seats are filled annually through the standard commission application process. DISCUSSION This report recommends the Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee (YMPIC) appointments. In concert with the City's call for commission members, the City advertised and requested applications be submitted to fill the YMPIC vacancies. Several applications were received and a subcommittee of the YMPIC served on the interview panel this past summer. The City of Pleasanton and Pleasanton Unified School District Liaison Committee approved the recommended appointments during the October 13, 2009 meeting. The YMPIC subcommittee interviewed and recommends the following applicants to serve on the YMPIC: Applicant Name Seat Represented Position Elaine Cheng Middle School Youth Representative Jason Gluck High School Youth Representative Rachael Loewenhardt High School Youth Representative Adam Manaa High School Youth Representative Zane Manaa Middle School Youth Representative Jeff Parrett Senior Citizen Community Member Lisa Shue High School Youth Representative/Young Ad u It The YMPIC did not receive applications for the Young Adult Seat age (18 -22) and its operating procedures allow for a high school student to be appointed when circumstances such as these arise. Upon approval of the recommended appointments the YMPIC will have no vacant seats remaining until June 2009.
