Downtown will greet you with unexpected finds and uncommon <br /> treasures. The pedestrian friendly, tree -lined streets offer a vibrant blend of parks and historic <br /> buildings, specialty shops and service businesses, fine dining and coffee shops. Indeed, life in <br /> downtown Pleasanton, California is a celebration. It is most evident during the many festivals and <br /> events that bring our streets alive throughout the year. Experience Downtown Pleasanton...there's <br /> something for everyone! <br /> Goals <br /> Prepare the foundation necessary to ensure for the success of mixed use and entertainment <br /> Enhance the physical and visual aspects of downtown to reinforce its hometown character <br /> Support activities that draw people to downtown <br /> Strengthen relationships with members, partnering organizations and the City <br /> Sustain a strong, proactive organization <br /> 2009 Priority Obiectives <br /> Move the Right to Do Business Ordinance forward <br /> Official agreement for new residents and businesses locating in the downtown district that <br /> acknowledges they are moving into an active commercial area <br /> Continue to work with the City on Division Street improvements <br /> Enhancement of the pedestrian experience on Division Street, between Main Street and <br /> Railroad Avenue, to coincide with the opening of the Firehouse Arts Center such that people <br /> are encouraged to visit the downtown before and after center activities and events <br /> Install and promote the Wayfinding Signage Program <br /> Clarifying directions to downtown from the freeways and local streets <br /> Maintain existing businesses and recruit new ones <br /> Support for current businesses and attraction of new businesses to fill vacancies in the downtown <br /> Collaborate the with City in the creation of a Downtown Marketing Plan <br /> Participate in the development of a citywide Shop Local campaign <br /> Maintain strong communication networks to foster more involvement and support from <br /> members and stakeholders <br /> Expand partnerships <br /> As prepared by the PDA Board of Directors and Committee Chairs on April 29, 2009. <br />
