Motion: It was m/s by McGovern /Sullivan to adopt Resolution No. 09 -320 amending the Master
Fee Schedule related to Parking Citation Penalties, as amended; (1) the penalty for abandoned
vehicles on public and private property is increased to $235, and (2) the amended fee schedule
be published in the City's newsletter; and introduced and waived first reading of Ordinance No.
1997 amending Chapter 1.12 (General Penalty) and Chapter 11.38 (Residential Permit Parking
Zone) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code. Motion passed by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmembers Cook Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman
Absent: None
Noes: None
MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL
Councilmember McGovern reported that she received email communication from Mr. Norman
following her recommendation that the Council adjourn its meetings in thanks of those who risk
their lives in service of this country. She requested that the Council consider the
recommendation. Councilmember Sullivan stated that the City of Dublin adjourns its council
meetings in the same manner and offered his support.
Vice -Mayor Cook- Kallio said she could support the notion and asked if an agenda item is
required or if the Mayor's direction, with Council support, would be sufficient. Mr. Fialho said that
the latter would be the easiest means of doing so.
Mayor Hosterman said she did not believe any member of the public would doubt this Council's
support of those in service to this country and said she would give the matter further
consideration following a discussion with staff.
Councilmember Thorne asked the Council to remember Mike Shimanski of Danville who passed
away this morning. Mayor Hosterman said she had the great honor of serving with the three
time Mayor on the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. She described him as an amazing
and stalwart representative for the people of Pleasanton and said he will be greatly missed.
COUNCIL REPORTS None
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
ehpOtfully sub itted,
Kar
4 az
City C erk
City Council Minutes Page 7 of 7 September 15, 2009
