The Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan identifies five major goals:
1. Create a citywide bicycle and pedestrian network;
2. Provide a viable alternative to driving for commuting and recreational purposes;
3. Establish citywide design guidelines for bicycle and pedestrian facilities;
4. Encourage and educate residents about bicycling and walking opportunities in
Pleasanton;
5. Improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
To address each of these goals, the Plan created eight separate chapters and eight
appendices.
The Plan includes several graphics to help convey base information including an
existing bicycle lane map. This map (shown below) identified that Pleasanton already
has a significant base bicycle system with:
6 miles of Class 1 paved bike paths
27 miles of Class II bike lanes
10 miles of Class 111 bike routes
IWOW.,,.n.,.•.
r m ,..,..e.W..
1 m..
3 71;
j w'
fli
'III PP!!
