CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1352 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTIONS 2.04.020 AND 2.04.030 OF <br /> THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Sections 2.04.020 and 2.04.030 of the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code, as set forth below, are hereby repealed <br /> and of no further force and effect. <br /> <br /> "2.04,020 Standby councilmen - Established - Purpose. <br /> <br /> There is established the office of standby <br /> councilman, to provide for the continuance of the <br /> legislative body of the city in case of a disaster. <br /> Each standby officer shall have the following duties: <br /> <br /> A. To inform himself of the duties of the office <br /> for which he is a standby officer. Officers and <br /> employees of the local agency shall provide each standby <br /> officer with a copy of this chapter; <br /> <br /> B. To keep informed of the business and affairs of <br /> the local agency to the extent necessary to enable him <br /> to fill his post competently. For this purpose, the <br /> local agency may arrange information meetings and <br /> require attendance; <br /> <br /> C. To immediately report himself ready for duty in <br /> the event of disaster at the place and in the method <br /> previously designated by the local agency; <br /> <br /> D. To fill the post for which he has been <br /> appointed when because of disaster it has become vacant. <br /> Standby officers No. 2 and No. 3 shall substitute in <br /> succession for standby officer No. 1 in the same way <br /> that said standby officer is substituted in place of the <br /> regular officer. He shall serve until the recovery of <br /> the regular officer from his injuries or the election or <br /> appointment of a new regular officer. <br /> <br /> 2.04.030 Standby councilmen - Appointment. <br /> <br /> Standby officers shall be appointed by the city <br /> council, with three to be appointed for each councilman, <br /> and each standby officer to be designated No. 1, No. 2 <br /> or No. 3. Said officers shall be appointed by majority <br /> vote by resolution, and shall serve at the pleasure of <br /> the council. Upon vacancies or removal or resignations, <br /> <br /> <br />
