BonaTech Engineering bid amount was $231, 650.00, while the second lowest bidder amount was $411, 760.00, with such disparity, we reviewed our take off again, and by doing so, we discovered that there were mathematical errors made in arriving to the bid amount we quoted in our bid. With the bid amount as quoted in our bid, it will be impossible to carry out the project as specified in the project document. In accordance with California Public Contract Code Section 5103, BonaTech Engineering hereby states that a mistake was made in preparation of the bid. This letter serves as a written notice within five days after the bid opening of the mistake. The mistake was a mathematical error in adding the cost of paving areas to the total of the bid plus the associated cost involved in the normal restoration of the roadway after the pipes were placed. The take -off was done by two estimators, and the estimator that puts the total bids together did not include the cost of asphalt concrete paving to the final bid amount. The mistake was made in filling out the bid, and not due to error in judgment or to carelessness in inspecting the site of the work, or in reading the plans or specifications. As a result of the mistake stated above, we request that you relieve BonaTech Engineering of the bid. We regret any inconvenience our mistake might have caused your agency.
