INTRODUCTION <br />PROJECT ELEMENTS <br />The Downtown Parks Trails System Master Plan (the DPTS Master Plan) is a <br />guide for design improvements for eight sites in Pleasanton's downtown area: <br />Wayside Park <br />DeLucchi Park <br />Fire Station No. 1 <br />Regional Trail Corridor (Alameda Transportation Corridor, also called <br />the old SPRR Right of Way), from Stanley Ave. to Bernal Ave. <br />Arroyo del Valle, from First St. to the UPRR Right of Way <br />Main St Green <br />Main St. Bridge (over the Arroyo del Valle) <br />Downtown Square <br />THE MASTER PLAN DOCUMENT <br />The Master Plan consists of the following sections. <br />Introduction: A summary description of the project. <br />Background: Context for the overall project. <br />Program: The outline of design goals. <br />Design Recommendations: The main body of the Master Plan. <br />Next Step: Implementation of the Master Plan. <br />Appendix: Design alternatives for Fire Station No. 1, and proposed design <br />plans for each site. <br />G OALS <br />P ROCESS <br />D R A F T P I A S T E R P L A N F O R T H E D P T S <br />The prime goal of the Downtown Parks Trails Master Plan is to provide the <br />City with a set of coordinated recommendations for designs and improvements to <br />the project sites. The recommendations are made based on the relation of sites to <br />each other, and in the context of the character of the downtown area. <br />The process was one of developing an understanding of each site in its down- <br />town context, gathering public input by working closely with a citizen Task Force, <br />and preparing final designs based on a clearly defined program. <br />INTRODUCTION <br />3 <br />
