<br />DRAFT MASTER PLAN FOR THE DPTS <br /> <br />PROGRAM <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Program for the Downtown Parks & Trails System, approved by the City <br />Council at its March 3. 1998 meeting. provides a set of goals for the design of <br />improvements to the Master Plan's sites. <br /> <br />As with any item of public process. this program has inspired discussion. At the <br />Parks & Recreation and Planning Commissions. and the City Council meeting in <br />which it was presented. members of the public commented on the uses and goals pro- <br />posed. Most sentiment was favorable, and the Council approved the Program, asking <br />that the comments be considered in the completion of the Master Plan. <br /> <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />The Program was developed to summarize the input of the citizen's Task Force for <br />the Downtown Parks & Trails System. The Task Force developed these program <br />requirements for each element of the Master Plan, based on observations at site visits <br />and discussions at public meetings. <br /> <br />INCLUDES: <br /> <br />. A definition of the most important uses or characteristics for each of the <br />project items. <br />. The lists of goals for each of the project items. <br /> <br />COMMON PROJECT GOALS <br /> <br />The following goals are common to all the elements of the project: <br /> <br />. Meet current codes. <br />. Meet standards recommended by the ADA. <br />. Improve the esthetic quality of project elements. consistent with downtown <br />Pleasanton's character, which has been established in the Downtown Specific <br />Plan and the Downtown Revitalization Plan. <br /> <br />PROGRAM <br />II <br /> <br />liil II I <br />
