CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 02-073 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN <br />APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING THROUGH THE <br />ENERGY COMMISSION TO INSTALL BATTERY BACK-UP <br />SYSTEMS AT 25 SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 25403.8, the State Energy Resources <br />Conservation and Development Commission (Energy Commission) is authorized <br />to provide grants to city, county or city and county governments for battery backup <br />systems for traffic signals; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to be eligible for funding, the battery backup systems must be used in <br /> conjunction with light emitting diode traffic signals; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is an eligible project sponsor for the Battery Backup <br /> Systems (BBS) grant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton wishes to submit a grant application to the Energy <br />Commission for the installation of 25 battery backup systems to fully operate <br />traffic signals during power failures; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br />Section 2: <br /> <br />If recommended for funding by the California Energy Commission, the Pleasanton <br />City Council authorizes the City of Pleasanton to accept a grant up to $70,525. <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works, or authorized designee, is hereby authorized and <br />empowered to execute in the name of the City of Pleasanton all necessary <br />documents to implement and carry out the purpose of this resolution and to <br />undertake all actions necessary to undertake and complete the energy efficiency <br />project. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />RI I1 ii ~ I I I I I I I <br /> <br /> <br />
