APPENDIX B ECONOMIC INFORMATION ON THE AREA CITY OF PLEASANTON The City of Pleasant on is located in south central Alameda County in the Livern10re- Amador Valley (called the Tri-Valley area that contains the cities of Pleasant on. Livermore. Dublin. and San Ramon). about 40 miles southeast of San Francisco and 25 miles southeast of Oakland, Interstate 580 borders Pleasanton on the north and Interstate 680 traverses the western portion of the City. Pleasanton contains about 21 square miles, Pleasanton's elevation is about 335 feet above sea level. The mean temperatures for January and July are 48 degrees and 71 degrees. respectively, Rainfall averages 17.4 inches per year. POPULATION The City's January 1,2001 population was 67.300. as estimated by the California Department of Finance. Table B-1 shows the population of Pleasant on and Alarneda County, The City makes up about 4,5 percent of Alameda County's population.
