CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 14 14 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. <br /> 1385 AND SECTION 20.08.050 OF THE PLRASANTON <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING AUTOMATIC FIRE <br /> EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1385 and Section <br /> 20.08.050 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is <br /> hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 20.08.050 Section 3802(b) amended - <br /> Automatic fire extinquishinq <br /> systems <br /> <br /> Section 3802(b) of the Uniform Building Code <br /> is amended to read: <br /> <br /> Notwithstanding other sections of this Code, <br /> the following buildings shall have automatic fire <br /> extinguishing systems: <br /> <br /> A. All buildings of all occupancies having a <br /> total of 8,000 square feet on all stories. <br /> Subsections (a) and (e) of Section 505, relating to <br /> area increases and area separation walls, and <br /> subsection (a) of Section 506, relating to open <br /> area separation, shall not be used in lieu of the <br /> fire sprinkler requirements of this section. <br /> <br /> B. Any building which is over five minutes <br /> response time from a City fire station as <br /> determined by the Chief of the Pleasanton Fire <br /> Department; and <br /> <br /> C. Any structure in an area determined to be <br /> a high fire hazard area by the Chief of the <br /> Pleasanton Fire Department, except that in any one <br /> and two family residential structures the current <br /> NPFPA 13-D Standard shall be followed when <br /> installing automatic fire extinguishing systems. A <br /> Hazard Area shall be defined as those areas beyond <br /> five (5) minutes driving time of fire apparatus <br /> from the fire station serving that particular <br /> district or areas determined by the Chief to be <br /> either high hazard areas or extreme hazard areas <br /> <br /> <br />
