CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 02-013 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING EAST BAY REGIONAL PARK <br />DISTRICT'S MEASURE K, A PARCEL TAX MEASURE FOR <br />PUBLIC SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MAINTENANCE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton and the East Bay Regional Park District have traditionally <br /> discussed issues of mutual interest; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />ongoing maintenance needs of the Regional Parks have increased due to parkland <br />and shoreline expansion, an increase in park users, and higher maintenance costs <br />within the Bay Area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the East Bay Regional Park District's Measure K would fund major Park District <br />needs of environmental maintenance, public safety, resource protection/restoration, <br />and public access; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Measure K proposes the following: <br /> <br />· $1.00 per month per single-family home; $.69 per month per apartment unit; <br />· 50% discount available to low-income seniors; <br />· After 12 years the measure would expire. Renewal would require a 2/3 vote; <br />· Funds would be equitably distributed throughout the Park District's parks and <br />trails; <br />· 51% of the funds will be used for one-time environmental maintenance projects, <br />39% for new park and regional trail openings, and 10% reserve for emergencies <br />and opportunities; <br />· The Park District Board of Directors will conduct annual public hearings on <br />projects to be selected and funded by the Measure. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Pleasanton supports the East Bay Regional Park <br />District Measure K, a parcel tax measure to be considered by Alameda and Contra <br />Costa County voters. <br /> <br /> <br />
