THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PL E ASANTOK
June 16, 2009
Assistant City Manager
TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF AN ORDINANCE ADDITION CHAPTER 9.21 TO THE
PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING CONSTRUCTION AND
DEMOLITION DEBRIS
SUMMARY
The Alameda County Waste Management Authority has imposed measures that must
be met by its members for receipt of future annual Waste Import Mitigation funding. One
of the measures is the implementation of a Construction and Demolition Debris
Ordinance (C &D). In response, staff is recommending approval of a C &D ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION
Introduce the attached ordinance adding Chapter 9.21 to the Pleasanton Municipal Code
regarding construction and demolition debris. (Attachment 1)
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The recommended action will not result in a noticeable financial impact for the City
except for an undetermined cost involved with administering the Ordinance. The City
has been generally adhering to the conditions set forth in the recommended ordinance
for the past few years and as a result, the processes set forth in the recommended
ordinance should not result in any significant administrative costs. There will be
increased costs for contractors involved with construction work related to meeting
recycling and administrative requirements.
