CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1444 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PT~ASANTON <br /> AMENDING SECTIONS 2.08,090, 2.08.100 AND <br /> 2.12.010 OF THE PT~ASANTONMUNICIPAL CODE <br /> CONCERNING THE APPOINTMENT OF THE CITY <br /> CT~RKBYTHE CITY MANAGER. <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Sections 2.08,090 and 2.08,100 of the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as <br /> follows: <br /> <br /> "2.08,090 Authority over employees. <br /> <br /> It shall be the duty of the city manager and the <br /> city manager shall have the authority to control, <br /> order and give directions to all heads of <br /> departments and to subordinate officers and <br /> employees of the city under the city manager's <br /> jurisdiction through their department heads, except <br /> for the offices of city attorney and city <br /> treasurer. <br /> <br /> 2.08,100 Power of appointment. <br /> <br /> It shall be the duty of the city manager, and the <br /> city manager shall appoint, remove, promote and <br /> demote any and all official officers and employees <br /> of the city, except the city attorney and city' <br /> treasurer, subject only to rules and regulations of <br /> appeal as may be established by the city council." <br /> <br />Section 2: Section 2.12.010 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> is hereby amended to read ads follows: <br /> <br /> "2.12.010 Appointment by city manager. <br /> <br /> The office of the city clerk shall be appointed by <br /> the city manager." <br /> <br />Section 3: This ordinance shall be published once within <br /> fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley <br /> Times," a newspaper of general circulation <br /> published in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> <br />
