CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALA?,,!E DA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />NE-mOLUTIr'IN NO,., <br /> <br />URGING THE HIGHWAY COMMISSION, STATE OF CALIF- <br />ORNIA, TO APPROVE AND ALLOCATE FUNDS FOR THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF FREEWAY INTERCHANGES AT SANTA <br />RITA - TASSAJARA ROADS AND DEL CHARRO ROAD, AT <br />THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE TIME. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has entered a period of <br />significant residential, industrial and corm~ercial growth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said growth has and will in the future result in a <br />considerable increase in vehicular traffis using U. S. Highway 50 <br />(Route 580) in the vicinity of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the past many serious motor vehicle accidents <br />have been attributed to the lack of adequate interchange facilitie~ <br />at Santa Rita Road and U. S. Highway 50; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a portion of the increased traffic is the result of <br />large truck and trailer equipment utilized by the rock, sand and <br />gravel industry located in the vicinity of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, construction of adequate interchange facilities at <br />Santa Rita - Tassajara Roads and Del Charro Road would contribute <br />greatly to traffic safety in the vicinity of U. S. Highway 50; <br />would reduce or eliminate dust, noise and hazards associated with <br />the constant use of residential streets by heavy truck traffic; <br />and would reduce or eliminate the necessity of constructing <br />frontage roads south of U. S. Highway 50 between Santa Rita Road <br />and Isabel Avenue; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the <br />City of Pleasanton does hereby respectfully urge the Highway <br />Commission of the State of California to allocate funds for the <br />construction of the Santa Rita - Tassajara interchange, and <br />approve and allocate funds for the construction of the proposed <br />Del Charro Road interchange, at the earliest possible time. <br /> <br />Adopted this 13th day of July, 1964, by the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Harding, McWilliams, and Long. <br /> <br />NOES: None <br /> <br /> ABSENT: Councilman Cairo <br /> <br />ATTEST: /~//// <br /> <br />HELEN WOODWARD, City Clerk <br /> <br /> I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and <br />regularly passed by the city council of the City of Pleasanton <br />iat a regular meeting thereof held July 13, 1964. <br /> <br /> HELEN WOODWARD, City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
