CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1479 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PT~ASANTON <br /> AMR. NDING SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE 1262 AND <br /> SECTION 9.24.040 OF T~E PT~ASANTON <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROHIBIT SMOKING IN <br /> SHOPPING M~T~. COMMON AREAS <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Section 4 of Ordinance 1262 and Section <br /> 9.24.040 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code are <br /> hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 9.24.040 Prohibition of smoking in <br /> public places <br /> <br /> Smoking is prohibited in the following places <br /> within the city: <br /> <br /> (Subsections A - H, no change). <br /> <br /> I. Smoking shall not be permitted in those areas <br /> of enclosed shopping malls which are external to <br /> the retail stores and are used by customers as a <br /> route of travel from one store to another, which <br /> areas consist primarily of walkways and include all <br /> seating areas." <br /> <br />Section 2: This ordinance shall be published once within <br /> fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley <br /> Times," a newspaper of general circulation <br /> published in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Section 3: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) <br /> days after the date of its final passage and <br /> adoption. <br /> <br />INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the <br />City of Pleasant0n on August 7, 1990. <br /> <br /> <br />
