CITY OF PLEASA;q"t'OM <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />URGING THE ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION TO <br />SELECT CAMP PARKS AS SITE FOR THE NUCLEAR <br />RESEARCH LABORATORY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Camp Parks, in the Livermore-Pleasanton Area of <br />~lameda County, is being proposed as the site for an Atomic Energy <br />Con~nission Nuclear Research Laboratory which will include a 200 <br />Bev Proton Accelerator; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Camp Parks site includes over 3,000 acres of <br />federally owned land which has been declared surplus by the <br />Department of the Army; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Camp Parks offers all of the cultural, economic, and <br />social amenities of a large metropolitan area which are vital to <br />such an establishment, and in addition the site offers ready <br />access to one of the most significant scientific corm~unities in <br />the nation, including the University of California as well as the <br />Lawrence Radiation Laboratory with its Berkeley and Livermore <br />laboratories as the nucleus; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the natural and scenic beauty of the Pleasanton and <br />~astern Alameda County area would enhance the Nuclear Research <br />Laboratory; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor, City Councilmen, city officials and <br />people of the City of Pleasanton would welcome the Nuclear Research <br />Laboratory as a benefic%al addition to the Alameda County community <br />and would do all in their power to assure the successful completion <br />of the project; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. The City Council of the City of Pleasanton does urge the <br />ktomic Energy Commission to select Camp Parks as the site for the <br />Nuclear Research Laboratory, and does offer full cooperation in <br />the establishment of this facility as a major research laboratory. <br /> <br /> 2. Copies of this resolution shall be sent to interested <br />)ersons, officials and agencies. <br /> <br />DATED: May 24, 1965. <br /> <br />.TTEST: <br /> <br />JOHN B.
