Ordinance No. 1508 <br /> <br /> 9.30.070. STAGE I: 25% VOLUNTARY REDUCTION IN WATER USE. <br /> <br /> The Director may declare a Stage I reduction in water use and <br /> thereby impose a voluntary reduction in water use as follows: <br /> <br /> A. Every customer shall use no more water than the customer used <br /> during the comparable billing period in 1990, and every <br /> customer shall eliminate wasting potable water in an effort to <br /> aid the City in achieving a twenty-five percent reduction in <br /> the amount of water used by all customers during comparable <br /> billing periods in 1990. New customers shall not use in <br /> excess of seventy-five percent of the City's estimated <br /> consumption for similar customers. <br /> <br /> B. To achieve this reduction, each residential customer shall <br /> reduce its summer bimonthly use by 25%, each non-residential <br /> customer shall reduce its summer bimonthly use by 15% and each <br /> irrigation customer shall reduce its summer bimonthly use by <br /> 35%. <br /> <br /> C. In addition, the Director shall recommend that all customers <br /> take the following conservation measures: <br /> <br /> 1. Residential Guidelines <br /> <br /> a. Use water conserving appliances and practices in <br /> the kitchen and bathroom. <br /> b. Use shut-off nozzles on hoses. <br /> c. Cover pools when not in use. <br /> d. Begin a water meter record to determine daily <br /> usage. <br /> e. Water lawns no more than twice weekly and before <br /> 10:00 a.m.; avoid overspray and run-off. <br /> f. Sweep paved areas; do not wash down. <br /> g. Inspect for leaks and repair promptly. <br /> <br /> 2. Non-residential <br /> <br /> a. Restaurants shall serve water only on request. <br /> b. Irrigate no more than twice weekly; avoid overspray <br /> and run-off. <br /> c. Perform water audit of facilities in order to <br /> prioritize water uses. <br /> <br /> 3. IrriGation <br /> <br /> a. Perform water audit of turf and other landscaping <br /> areas. <br /> b. Limit watering to no more than twice weekly. <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
