Ordinance No. 1507 B. The City Manager shall notify in writing any member who has been absent from one-third of the regular meetings during the course of a six month period of that fact and request that the member submit to the City Council in writing the reasons for the absences. C. The City Council shall determine if the member's reasons for the absences were justified. If the City Council determines that the reasons for the failure of the member to attend the meetings in question were not justified, the City Council shall terminate the term of office of the member and declare the office vacant. D. If the city council declares such office vacant, the city council shall take appropriate steps to appoint a qualified person to fill such vacancy for the unexpired term and the city clerk shall notify the member that the member's term has been officially terminated." Section 6: Section 2 (part) of Ordinance 1410 and Section 18.20,040 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code are hereby further amended to read as follows: "Section 18.20.040 Term. (Subsections A and B, no change.) C. The term of any member of the board who has been absent from one-third of the regular meetings during the course of a six- month period shall terminate pursuant to the procedures set forth in Section 18.16.130 of this Code." Section 7: This ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley Times," a newspaper of general circulation publlshea in the Ci~y of Pleasanton. Section 8: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after the date of its final passage and adoption.
