CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1680 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLEASANTON <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 10.08.030 <br /> TO PROVIDE FOR RECOVERY OF EXPENSES DUE <br /> TO THE DETENTION OF MINORS <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Section 10.08.030 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is hereby added to <br /> Chapter 10.08 to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "10.08.030 Detention of Minors - Cost Recovery <br /> <br /> A. For the purposes of this section "minor" shall be defined as an <br /> individual who is under the age of eighteen years. <br /> <br /> B. The parent or guardian of a minor shall be joinfly and severally <br /> liable with the minor who is detained for violation of curfew, truancy, <br /> runaway or willrid misconduct in violation of Welfare and Institutions Code <br /> Section 602, for the expense of the detention which results in police <br /> supervision of the minor in excess of one (1) hour. <br /> <br /> C. For the purpose of this section, the period of detention shall <br /> commence when an officer makes a reasonable attempt to contact the <br /> minors parent or guardian, by phone or in person, at the parent's or <br /> guardian's home, place of employment or place where the minor believes <br /> the parent or guardian to be. <br /> <br /> D. The cost of providing police services, as used in this section shall <br /> include the actual cost of providing police personnel and any other expense <br /> relating to the detention of a minor. All factors that substantiate the <br /> accounting shall be included in the police report. <br /> <br /> <br />
