CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 1652 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18.74 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE (DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION DISTRICT) TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FLEXIBILITY FOR BUSINESS SIGNAGE IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Section 18.74.130 (Permitted Signs) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is amended as follows: "Subsections A - B, no change. C. Sign content shall be limited to the identification of the site or use (e.g., business name). In addition, references to generic product-types or services offered may be incorporated into window signs, awnings, freestanding sidewalk signs, or flags. Such signs shall be subject to design review approval." Section 2: Section 18.74.13 0 (Table 1, Main Street Signs) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is amended as follows: "A. Definitions. (subsections 1 - 7, no change) 8. ~Directory sign' means a sign which displays the multiple names and locations (e.g., suite numbers) of second-story tenants or businesses in buildings without direct frontage on a public street. (subsection 9, no change) 10. ~Freestanding sidewalk sign' means a detached sign placed in the sidewalk area in front of a business establishment identifying the business name or generic product-types or services offered. 11. 'Menu display' means either a free-standing or building-mounted display for advertising the menu of a restaurant or bar.
