CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 1584 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PT~ASANTON REVISING AND AMENDING CH/LPTER 6.40 (TAXICABS) OF THE pLEASANTONMUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, the current ordinance regulating taxicabs was adopted on March 13, 1967; and WHEREAS, staff has proposed revised taxicab regulations to address new concerns; and WHEREAS, City Council has conducted legally noticed public hearings and provided interested parties an opportunity to be heard on these issues; and WHEREAS, the City Council has carefully considered the proposed amendments to Chapter 6.40 and finds that said amendments comply with the requirements of applicable laws, and further contributes to the protection of the health, safety and general welfare of:its citizens; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Chapter 6.40 (Taxicabs) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is hereby revised and amended to read as follows: "Chapter 6.40 Taxicabs 6.40.01Q. Definitions. A. ,,Certificate" means a certificate of public convenience and necessity issued by the City Council, authorizing the holder thereof to conduct a taxicab business in the City, and shall be synonymous with the term "owner's permit." B. "City" means the City of Pleasanton. C. "Closed Stand" means a public place alongside the curb which has been designated by the City Council, at the time of the issuance of the certificate, as reserved exclusively for the use of one owner when properly identified. Such closed stand shall not be open to any taxicab or taxicabs except those for which the stand has been exclusively reserved by action of the City Council.
