CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1727 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF pLEASANTON <br /> REPEALING CHAPTER 6.24 OF THE PLEASANTON <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADOPTING A REVISED <br /> CHAPTER 6.24 OF THE pLEASANTON MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE REGULATING MASSAGE SERVICES AND <br /> MASSAGE ESTABLISHMENTS <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON HEREBY ORDAINS AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: Chapter 6.24 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is hereby repealed in its entirety. <br />SECTION 2: Chapter 6.24 is hereby added to Title 6, Specific Business Regulations of the <br /> Pleasanton Municipal Code, which Chapter shall read as follows: <br /> <br />"Chapter 6.24 Regulation of Massage Services and Massage Establishments <br />6.24.010 Purpose and Intent. <br /> <br /> A. In enacting these regulations the City Council recognizes that massage is a viable <br /> professional field offering the public valuable health and therapeutic services, <br /> including but not limited to, massage, bodywork, and somatic therapies. <br /> <br /> B. It is the purpose and intent of the City Council that the operation of massage <br /> establishments and persons offering massage be regulated in the interests of public <br /> health, safety, and welfare to provide minimum building sanitation and health <br /> standards, to insure that persons offering massage possess the minimum <br /> qualifications necessary to operate such businesses and to perform such services <br /> offered, and to insure that those offering massage services conduct their work in a <br /> lawful and professional manner. <br /> <br /> 6.24.020 Definitions. For the purpose of this Chapter, the following words and phrases are <br /> defined as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
