upon a fixed charge shall be recorded on a manifest as described in Section 6.40.230 of this <br />Chapter and shall be open to examination by any authorized representative of the Chief of <br />Police. A copy of all fixed charges and respective destination points will be filed with the Chief <br />of Police so that all enforcement personnel may be properly informed as to the fixed charges. <br /> <br /> F. Placement of taximeter: The taximeter must be placed in the taxicab so that the <br />reading dial showing the amount to be charged shall be well-lighted and readily discemible by <br />the passenger riding in such taxicab. <br /> <br /> G. Rates: It is unlawful for the owner or driver of any taxicab to fix, charge, collect <br />or receive a rate in excess of rates established and set by resolution of the City Council. If the <br />owner of a taxicab company wishes to change the rates charged, the owner shall apply by letter <br />to the City Manager stating the reason for the new rates, what the proposed new rates will be, <br />and a current survey of the rates that competitive taxicab companies are charging. The City <br />Manager will then forward to the City Council the request for new rates. The City Council will <br />consider the proposed new rates and if deemed appropriate will pass a resolution authorizing the <br />new rates. The owner of the taxicab company shall then have the taximeters recertified by the <br />State Bureau of Weights and Measures as specified in subsection A of this Section. <br /> <br /> H. Posting of rate card: There shall be displayed in the passenger compartment of <br />each taxicab in full view of the passenger a card not less than four inches by six inches (4" x 6") <br />in size which shall have plainly printed thereon the name of the owner, or the fictitious name <br />under which the owner operates, the business address and telephone number of the owner and a <br />correct schedule of rates to be charged for conveyance in the vehicle. <br /> <br /> I. Acceptance of personal property - prohibited: It is unlawful for any driver of a <br />taxicab, or other vehicle regulated by this Chapter, to purchase, accept, receive, acquire or to <br />agree to purchase, accept, receive or acquire any article of personal property in payment of any <br />fares due and payable for conveyance in any taxicabs or vehicles regulated by this Chapter. <br /> <br /> J. Conformance to color scheme: All taxicabs must conform to the color scheme, <br />insignia or any other distinguishing characteristics approved by the Chief of Police at the same <br />time as the Certificate was approved. <br /> <br />6.40.210 Operating Regulations. <br /> <br /> A. Direct route: Any driver employed to transport passengers to a definite point shall <br />take the most direct route that will take the passenger to their destination safely and <br />expeditiously. If the passenger wishes to go a route different than the most direct route, the <br />driver must record on the manifest, as described in Section 6.40.230, the route the passenger <br />wishes to take. <br /> <br /> Page 14 <br /> <br /> <br />
