PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. PC-2000-62 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF AN AMENDIVlENT TO CHAPTERS <br />18.44 AND 18.48 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING <br />COMMERCIAL RADIO AND TELEVISION AERIALS, ANTENNAS, AND <br />TRANSMISSION TOWERS, AS FILED UNDER CASE PRZ-05 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />XM Satellite Radio has applied to amend Chapter 18.44 (C - Commemial <br />Districts) and Chapter 18.48 (I - Industrial Districts) of the Pleasanton Municipal <br />Code to permit with City approval commemial radio and television aerials, <br />antennas, and transmission towers; to include the requirement that these facilities <br />are to be set back 300 feet from residences, schools, parks, and similar uses; to <br />include design criteria that would minimize the visibility of these facilities from <br />view; and to amend Section 18.84.150 (Height Limits - Exceptions) of the <br />Pleasanton Municipal Code to delete the requirement that commercial radio and <br />television aerials, antennas, and transmission towers be set back 1,000 feet from <br />the 1-580 and 1-680 freeway fights-of-way; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at its duly noticed public hearing of November 8, 2000 the Planning Commission <br />considered all public testimony, relevant exhibits, and recommendations of the <br />City staff concerning the amendment to the Municipal Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Planning Commission determined that the Code amendmem is appropriate as <br />the proposed language would still maintain the level of design review and control <br />necessary for proposed aerials, antennas, and towers. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />Recommend approval of Case PRZ-05, the application of XM Satellite Radio to <br />amend Chapter 18.44 (C - Commercial Districts) and Chapter 18.48 (I - <br />Industrial Districts) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code to permit with City <br />approval commercial radio and television aerials, antennas, and transmission <br />towers; to include the requirement that these facilities are to be set back 300 feet <br />from residences, schools, parks, and similar uses; to include design criteria that <br />would minimize the visibility of thes~e facilities from view; and to amend Section <br />18.84.150 (Height Limits - Exceptions) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code to <br />delete the requirement that commercial radio and television aerials, antennas, and <br />transmission towers be set back 1,000 feet from the 1-580 and 1-680 freeway <br />rights-of-way as set forth in Exhibit "A," attached hereto and incorporated herein <br />by this reference. <br /> <br /> <br />
