WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 01-079 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMITTING TO A FURTHER <br />REDUCTION IN ELECTRICAL USAGE <br /> <br />California faces unprecedented energy challenges and severe electricity supply <br />shortages; and <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton adopted a resolution in January 2001 committing to a 7% <br />reduction in electrical usage; and <br /> <br />the importance of continuous and sustained energy conservation efforts cannot be <br />overstated; and <br /> <br />Governor Gray Davis has asked all California Cities, Counties and Special <br />Districts to reduce electricity use by 15%; and <br /> <br />to demonstrate Pleasanton's continued commilment to conserve electricity; and <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton has already implemented operational changes to conserve <br />energy and will develop projects to further this endeavor to achieve a 15/'% <br />reduction; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton is committed to reducing its ongoing electricity use by 15% <br />and urges its residents and businesses to also reduce ongoing electricity use by <br />15%. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
