School Policy 4: Convenient and Safe Routes. Provide safe routes through <br />the Planning Area for school children to walk to both the proposed elementary <br />school and the Pleasanton Middle School. <br /> <br />I~IRE I~ROTRCTION SERVICES O~JECTIVE <br /> <br />To pROVIDE FIRE pROTECTION FACILITIES TO SERVE THE PLANNING AREA AND ASSIST <br /> <br />IN MEETING THE FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE NEEDS OF THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY. <br /> <br />Fire Protection Policy 1: Fire Station Site. As part of the Phase I <br />development, provide up to a one-acre site for a fire and emergency services <br />station, preferably to be located near the Bernal-Valley intersection as generally <br />shown on Figure 3-1, with convenient access to Valley Avenue north of Bernal <br />Avenue and to southeast Pleasanton. <br /> <br />GUIDELINES: <br /> <br />1.1 <br /> <br />Dedication of the fire station site shall be made with the first final map <br />covering the Central Area if not conveyed in conjunction with the Phase <br />II lands. <br /> <br />1.2 <br /> <br />The design of the fire station shall be consistent with the architecture and <br />design guidelines of the Phase I Central Area. <br /> <br />Fire Protection Policy 2: Fire Protection Standards. Develop in accordance <br />with City fire protection standards and regulations, both as the site develops and <br />at final build-out. <br /> <br />GUIDELINES: <br /> <br />2.1 <br /> <br />Expand the City's existing water transmission system to ensure <br />satisfactory water supply and water pressure, and provide adequate <br />access for each phase as the Plan develops. <br /> <br />2.2 <br /> <br />Street improvements shall be installed to allow satisfactory response <br />from existing fire service locations, and from the new station when it <br />becomes operational <br /> <br /> All roads into and within the Planning Area shall be available for <br /> public access. <br /> <br />5-8 <br /> <br /> <br />
