5.4 <br /> <br />Sidewalks, bike lanes and pedestrian/bike paths will be improved as part <br />of the development of adjacent uses. <br /> <br />Trs~sportation Network Policy 6: Paths and Trails Standards. Develop <br />pathways and bikeways that are safe, well-marked and constructed to meet City <br />design standards. <br /> <br />GUIDELINES: <br /> <br />6.1 <br /> <br />Standards for pathways and bikeways shall be those contained in the <br />City's Comm~n. ity Trails Master Plan. <br /> <br />6.2 Signalized crosswalks shall be provided at all signalized intersections. <br /> <br />TI~,NSPORTATION SYSTEM IMPRO~S OBJECTIVE <br />TO OI~FSET THE TRAFFIC IMPACTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPECIFIC PLAN'S <br />INCREMENTAL CONTRIBUTION OF TRAFFIC TO HIGHWAYS, STREETS, INTERSECTIONS, <br />BRIDGES, AND INTERCHANGES WHICH WILL REQUIRE CAPACITY INCREASES AND/OR <br />IMPROVEMENTS TO ACHIEVE ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS. <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton General Plan includes standards for controlling traffic congestion at <br />critic~l intersections throughout the City. The Specific Plan incorporates roadway and <br />intersection improvements designed to achieve the City's General Plan standard of no worse <br />than Level of Service "D". These improvements include installation of traffic signals at <br />intersections where furore traffic volumes warrant signalization, provision of additional lanes <br />for improved intersection operation, and matching the density of land uses with the capacity of <br />the surrounding roadway network. <br /> <br />Transportation Improvmnent Policy 1: On-Site Intersections - Level of <br />Service. Traffic levels of service at all internal intersections affected by <br />development within the Planning Area shall not exceed LOS D throughout the <br />buildout of the Specific Plan. <br /> <br />Transportation Improvement Policy 2: Phase I Bernal Avenue Intersection <br />Improvements. As part of the overall improvements required for development <br />of Phase I of the Planning Area, improvements as shown in this Specific Plan <br />shall be made at intersections along Bernal Avenue, designed to achieve a LOS <br />D or better conditions at buildout of the City General Plan. <br /> <br />4-11 <br /> <br /> <br />
