Transportation Network Policy 5: Phase I Paths and Trailg System. <br />Accommodate and provide in the Phase I project the pathways and bikeways <br />within the Planning Area as shown on the Major Pathway and Bikeway <br />Diagram: Figure 4-6, linked to the City's Community Trails Master Plan. <br /> <br />GUIDELINES: <br /> <br />5.1 <br /> <br />Major Connector streets should have on-street bikeways or off-street, <br />combined bikeways/pathways. <br /> <br />Depending upon the future design and implementation of <br />interchange improvements at 1-680/Bernal, the off-street <br />pedestrian- bike path shown on the north side of Bernal Avenue <br />between Valley Avenue and the Western Area entryway may be <br />re-located to the south side of Bernal to IT~inlnxize traffic conflicts <br />at the interchange. <br /> <br />5.2 <br /> <br />Neighborhood streets shall have pedestrian walkways. Low traffic <br />volumes and traffic calming strategies enable bicycles to ride on-street <br />within the flow of traffic. <br /> <br />5.3 <br /> <br />Phase II development should accommodate regional trails within the <br />Arroyo de la Laguna setback, and along the drainage channel adjacent to <br />the UPRR railroad as shown on Figure 4-6. <br /> <br /> Property owners adjacent to regional trails not located on or <br /> adjacent to a street shall be advised of the existence or future <br /> development of such trails through a deed recordation on all <br /> properties located adjacent to such proposed trail alignments. <br /> <br />4-9 <br /> <br /> <br />
