UTIDN ND. 66-111 <br /> <br />INSTRUCTING CITY A'C~)RNEY TO FILE SUIT <br />AGAINS~ ~HE UNI~ STATES POST OFFICE <br />DEPARTMENT FOR ~ION OF DOOR-TO-DOOR <br /> MAlL DELIVERY SERVICE <br /> <br />RESOLVED: <br /> <br /> 1. The City Council does hereby authorize and instruct <br />the City Attorney to prepare and file a complaint in the United <br />States District Court at San Francisco, California, against the <br /> <br />United States Post Office Department for purposes as follows: <br /> <br />me <br /> <br />To test the federal-local government relationship <br />concerning the federal moratorium on extending <br />door-to-door mail delivery service in new city <br />subdivisions and the city use of its police power <br />to control placing of rural mail boxes. <br /> <br />be <br /> <br />To help citizens of Pleasanton obtain door-to- <br />door delivery service, without discrimination <br />because of newness of their home. <br /> <br /> c. To prevent enforcement of an arbitrary regulation <br /> imposed by the Postmaster General on new residents <br /> of the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> 2. The City of Pleasanton does hereby seek the cooperation <br />help and participation of other cities in this suit. <br /> <br />3. The City of Pleasanton invites as co-plaintiffs <br />individuals, home owner associations and other interested parties <br /> <br /> 4.
