CiTY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />~£SOLUTION NO.. 66-156 <br /> <br />OPPOSING ADOPTION OF STATE OR FEDERAL <br />BUILDING CODES, AND AFFIRMING THE PRINCIPLE <br />OF HOME RULE FOR THE CITY OF PLEA~ANTON <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State and Federal governments, through their <br />various agencies, are considering the enactment of building codes <br />so as to create a State Building Code that would be mandatory <br />throughout the State of California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such a State Building Code would be amended, <br />interpreted and administered by State or Federal government <br />agencies; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such a program would greatly reduce the home rule <br />and the areas of control of local matters by electors of the City <br />of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has for many years had <br />building codes adopted by ordinance, with special amendments to <br />fit the special problems in character, population, topography, <br /> <br />climate and desires of the people of the City of Pleasanton; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. The City Council of the City of Pleasanton hereby <br />~poses the activities of the State of California and the Federal <br />government which would pre-empt local government control of <br />building codes. <br /> <br /> 2. The City Council does hereby oppose enactment of State <br />~ Federal Building Codes. <br /> <br /> 3. The City Council does a~firm the principle o~ home rule <br /> in local government. <br /> <br /> <br />
